What is the official 2019 re-release of vanilla World of Warcraft called?
Answer
World of Warcraft Classic
Answer
World of Warcraft Classic
The official 2019 re-release of vanilla World of Warcraft is called World of Warcraft Classic.
World of Warcraft Classic launched globally on August 26, 2019, giving players a version of the original game as it existed before The Burning Crusade, the first expansion. Blizzard rebuilt the old experience using the modern game’s technical infrastructure while preserving the original classes, zones, quests, progression and combat style.
The project grew from long-running player interest in “vanilla” World of Warcraft. Blizzard formally announced it at BlizzCon 2017, following years of debate over unofficial legacy servers and requests for an authentic version of the early game. Classic was designed to run alongside the then-current version of World of Warcraft rather than replace it.
World of Warcraft Era is a later term associated with permanent Classic-era realms, not the original official name of the 2019 release. Reforged belongs to Warcraft III, while Remix refers to limited-time modern-game events. Later Classic editions expanded into progression, seasonal and Hardcore formats, but the original re-release remains World of Warcraft Classic.
