Kali Prasad is introduced in the second season as another former Hawkins Laboratory subject. Like Eleven, she was assigned a number rather than being identified publicly by her name. Her number, 008, places her earlier in the laboratory’s sequence than Eleven, who is known as 011.
Kali’s supernatural ability is to create powerful illusions, allowing her to make people see or experience things that are not actually present. This distinguishes her power from Eleven’s better-known telekinetic abilities, although both characters were subjected to experimentation under Dr. Martin Brenner.
After escaping the laboratory, Kali lives in Chicago with a small group of outcasts and uses her abilities in pursuit of revenge. When Eleven meets her, Kali encourages her to draw on anger to strengthen her powers. A frequent mix-up is confusing Kali’s number with Eleven’s or with other numbered children shown in the series; the character identified as Kali is specifically 008.
