WRC2 is the World Rally Championship’s support category for Rally2 cars. It gives privately entered and manufacturer-supported crews a major international championship beneath the headline Rally1 class.
The category uses production-based cars homologated to FIA Group Rally2 regulations, such as the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, Hyundai i20 N Rally2, Ford Fiesta Rally2 and Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. These cars are closely related to road-going models but are extensively modified for competition, with four-wheel drive, sequential gearboxes and rally-specific suspension.
WRC2 began in 2013, replacing the Super 2000 World Rally Championship as the performance-car support series. The wider restructuring also helped establish WRC3 and Junior WRC. WRC2 crews normally compete on the same rallies and stages as Rally1 competitors, often starting immediately behind them.
The name can be confused with WRC3, which serves different eligible car categories, or Junior WRC, a driver-development championship with age and equipment rules. WRC2 is specifically associated with Rally2 machinery and awards separate titles for drivers, co-drivers and teams.
