What is the name of the wizarding sport created by J.K. Rowling?
Answer
Quidditch
Answer
Quidditch
Quidditch is the wizarding sport created by J.K. Rowling.
It appears throughout the Harry Potter novels and is played on broomsticks by two teams of seven players. Each team has three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. Players score with the Quaffle, defend against Bludgers, and try to catch the Golden Snitch.
Catching the Golden Snitch awards 150 points and usually ends the match, although it does not automatically determine the winner. The sport’s unusual scoring system is one reason it became one of the most recognizable parts of the wizarding world.
The name “Quidditch” comes from Rowling’s fictional history of the game and its early connection with Queerditch Marsh. In the real world, universities and community groups later adapted the game for non-magical play, using modified rules and equipment. The real-world sport was renamed quadball by the International Quadball Association in 2022.
