Quidditch is the wizarding sport created by J.K. Rowling in which players chase a Golden Snitch. It is played on broomsticks with two teams of seven players.
A Quidditch match uses four types of balls: one Quaffle, two Bludgers and one Golden Snitch. Chasers try to throw the Quaffle through one of three opposing hoops, while Beaters defend teammates and disrupt opponents with Bludgers. The Keeper protects the hoops, and the Seeker hunts the Snitch.
The sport appears throughout the Harry Potter novels and provides a recurring setting for school rivalry, friendship and competition. In the fictional rules, catching the Snitch usually awards 150 points and ends the game, although a team can still lose if its score remains lower.
