What is the name of the village in the Shire where Frodo's home is located?

The story behind the answer

The village in the Shire where Frodo's home is located is Hobbiton. Frodo lives at Bag End, a comfortable hobbit-hole dug into the Hill on the northern side of Hobbiton.

Hobbiton is one of the best-known settlements in Tolkien's Middle-earth. It is part of the Westfarthing of the Shire, the rural homeland of the Hobbits. Bilbo Baggins also lives at Bag End, and both Bilbo and Frodo begin major adventures from this home.

The name of the dwelling is a common source of confusion. Hobbiton is the village, Bag End is Frodo's and Bilbo's home, and the Shire is the larger region containing them. Bywater is a nearby village known for the Green Dragon inn, while Michel Delving is the chief town of the Shire.

Hobbiton appears at both the beginning and end of The Lord of the Rings. After returning from the quest, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin find the Shire under hostile control and help liberate it during the Scouring of the Shire.
