What is the name of the US television programme adapted from the Dragon's Den investment format?

The story behind the answer

Shark Tank is the US television programme adapted from the Dragon's Den investment format.

Shark Tank premiered in the United States in 2009 on ABC. Entrepreneurs pitch products and companies to a panel of investors, known as Sharks, who may offer money in return for an ownership stake.

The format ultimately traces back to the Japanese programme Money Tigers. Different countries adapted the concept with different titles and local investor panels; the British edition retained the Dragon's Den name, while the American edition used Shark Tank.

Shark Tank is not the same programme as the UK series, although their pitch-and-investment structure is closely related. The title is therefore the specific US adaptation sought here.
