What is the name of the town where the player starts in Pokémon Red and Blue?

The story behind the answer

What is the name of the town where the player starts in Pokémon Red and Blue? The player starts in Pallet Town in Pokémon Red and Blue. This small settlement lies in the Kanto region and serves as the protagonist’s hometown. It is also home to Professor Samuel Oak, whose laboratory provides the starting point for the player’s Pokémon journey.

At the beginning of the games, the player leaves home and attempts to walk through the tall grass. Professor Oak stops them because wild Pokémon can be dangerous without a Pokémon of their own. In Oak’s laboratory, the player chooses Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle, while the rival selects one of the other two starters with a type advantage.

Pallet Town is often confused with Viridian City because Viridian is the first major city the player visits and contains the first Pokémon Center and Poké Mart. Pallet Town does not have a Gym. Its name also fits Kanto’s color-based naming pattern: a palette is a collection of colors, while the other early cities include Viridian, Pewter, Cerulean, and Saffron.
