What is the name of the town where Lightning McQueen meets the local cars in Pixar's Cars?
Answer
Radiator Springs
Answer
Radiator Springs
Lightning McQueen meets the local cars in Radiator Springs in Pixar's Cars.
The fictional town lies along historic U.S. Route 66 in Carburetor County, in the southwestern United States. After accidentally damaging the road, McQueen is ordered to repair it before he can leave. This brings him into contact with Mater, Sally Carrera, Doc Hudson, and other residents.
Radiator Springs represents the consequences of interstate highways bypassing older roadside communities. The film uses the town's businesses, neon signs, landscape, and local history to evoke the real Route 66 towns that lost traffic after Interstate 40 replaced much of the older route.
Radiator Springs is sometimes mistaken for the film's racing venue, but the Piston Cup race takes place at the Los Angeles International Speedway. The town is instead the emotional and narrative center of the first film.
