In Pixar's Cars 3, where is the Florida 500 held?

The story behind the answer

The Florida 500 in Pixar's Cars 3 is held at Florida International Super Speedway.

The race is the film's decisive Piston Cup event and takes place at a fictional superspeedway in Florida. Lightning McQueen initially plans to compete there as part of his effort to prove he can still defeat the younger Jackson Storm.

The event becomes a turning point when Lightning realizes that Cruz Ramirez deserves the opportunity to race. He changes roles during the competition, acting as her crew chief and coach. Cruz eventually takes the track and wins, giving the film its emotional resolution.

Florida International Super Speedway is fictional, so it should not be confused with Daytona International Speedway or Homestead-Miami Speedway, both real Florida racing venues. The name is also distinct from the Motor Speedway of the South, the fictional track featured in the first Cars film.
