In Pixar's Cars 2, Francesco Bernoulli is the Italian Formula car who races Lightning McQueen.

Francesco is a Formula-style open-wheel racer and Lightning's principal sporting rival in the World Grand Prix. He is designed as a confident, highly successful European competitor whose flamboyant personality contrasts with Lightning's more mature attitude in the sequel.

The character is voiced by John Turturro in the English version. His name, accent, and racing design identify him as an Italian competitor, while his career history establishes him as a major international star before he meets Lightning.

Francesco's rivalry is mostly competitive rather than villainous. The main threat in Cars 2 comes from the conspiracy surrounding Allinol and the secretly weaponized race cars. This distinction can help separate Francesco from Professor Zündapp, a German scientist involved with the film's criminal plot.
