Liu Kang becomes Fire God Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 11.
At the end of Mortal Kombat 11, Liu Kang merges with the thunder god Raiden after defeating Kronika. This transformation creates Fire God Liu Kang, a being who combines Liu Kang’s identity and powers with Raiden’s divine essence.
The ending is the result of the game’s central time-manipulation story. Kronika, the Keeper of Time, attempts to reshape history, while Raiden’s actions across repeated timelines lead him to entrust his power to Liu Kang. The character then takes responsibility for guiding a new timeline.
The name is not simply a new fighter unrelated to Liu Kang: Fire God Liu Kang is Liu Kang’s elevated divine form. Mortal Kombat 11’s expansion, Aftermath, explores competing attempts to control the timeline created after Kronika’s defeat.
