Summer Glau plays Cameron, a reprogrammed Terminator in The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Cameron is sent from the future to protect John Connor and his mother, Sarah. The character takes the name Cameron Phillips and initially presents herself as a high-school student while operating as John’s guardian.
Unlike the T-800 from the feature films, Cameron is designed with a female appearance and has a more advanced behavioral profile. The series explores how a machine can imitate social behavior while still following its protection mission. Her name is also a tribute to James Cameron, who created the franchise.
The character’s identity and memories become important mysteries during the series. Summer Glau’s performance helped make Cameron one of the show’s defining characters, combining combat ability with uncertainty about machine consciousness and loyalty.
