What is the name of the sword wielded by Aragorn?

The story behind the answer

The sword wielded by Aragorn is Andúril, whose Quenya name means “Flame of the West.” It is the reforged form of Narsil, the ancient sword carried by Elendil during the Second Age.

Narsil was broken when Elendil fell in the battle against Sauron. Isildur then used the broken sword’s hilt-shard to cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand. The fragments remained an heirloom of Isildur’s descendants until they were reforged for Aragorn in Rivendell.

After reforging, Aragorn renamed the blade Andúril. Its design includes the Sun, Moon, and seven stars, symbols that connect it to the history of Elendil and the royal line of Gondor. The sword also serves as a visible sign of Aragorn’s claim to kingship.

Narsil is the correct historical predecessor, but not the sword’s name after reforging. Glamdring belongs to Gandalf, while Sting is the short blade carried by Bilbo and later Frodo. That distinction makes Andúril the canonical answer.
