The three-part miniseries examines the making of the Beatles’ 1970 album Let It Be, which originally carried the working title Get Back. Jackson shaped the series from extensive film and audio recordings made during the group’s January 1969 studio sessions.
Rather than presenting only a conventional retrospective, the series follows the Beatles’ creative process as John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr write, rehearse and record. It culminates with footage from the group’s famous rooftop performance at Apple Corps headquarters in London on 30 January 1969.
The title is often confused with Let It Be because the two projects draw on the same recording sessions. Let It Be was Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original 1970 documentary, whereas Get Back is Jackson’s later reconstruction and expansion of that material. The series premiered on Disney+ across three consecutive days in November 2021.
