The studio where entrepreneurs pitch to investors on Britain's Dragon's Den is called The Den.
The name is central to the programme's imagery. Entrepreneurs walk into The Den, stand before the investor panel and present their business proposition. The setting is intentionally spare, putting attention on the founder, the numbers and the negotiation rather than on elaborate scenery.
A typical pitch includes the amount of money requested and the percentage of the business offered in return. The Dragons then ask questions about sales, profit, valuation, intellectual property and plans for growth. An offer may be accepted, rejected or renegotiated during the discussion.
The Den should not be confused with the boardroom used by The Apprentice or with a generic television studio. It is the programme's named pitch space. Although episodes may be filmed in a production facility, the on-screen location and concept are consistently referred to as The Den.
