“Gaston” is the song sung by Gaston in Disney's 1991 animated Beauty and the Beast.
The number takes place after Gaston is rejected by Belle. Gaston retreats to the tavern, where LeFou and the other patrons encourage his wounded pride. The song turns his vanity, physical strength, and appetite for admiration into comic spectacle.
Alan Menken composed the music and Howard Ashman wrote the lyrics. Ashman's words give the number its boastful character, while Menken's arrangement builds from a tavern performance into a large ensemble finale. Jesse Corti voiced LeFou, and Richard White voiced Gaston.
“The Mob Song” is another Gaston-related number, but it occurs later, when the villagers march toward the castle. “Be Our Guest” belongs to Lumière and the enchanted servants, making it a separate musical sequence.
