Spencer House hosted the world premiere of Disney’s 2017 live-action film Beauty and the Beast.
The premiere took place in London on February 23, 2017, at Spencer House, a historic aristocratic residence near St James’s Park. This event preceded the film’s general theatrical release in March 2017 and served as the principal launch gathering for the cast and filmmakers.
Spencer House is a real eighteenth-century London house rather than a film studio or cinema. Its period interiors suited the visual identity of a production inspired by an eighteenth-century French fairy-tale setting, although the movie itself was filmed primarily at studios and locations in England.
The film was directed by Bill Condon and starred Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, and Josh Gad. Its London premiere is sometimes confused with the film’s separate release dates in other countries.
