Smearguru is the Smeargle character famed for painting in Pokémon Pokopia.
Smearguru is a distinctive Pokémon encountered as Ditto restores habitats. The character is presented as exceptionally talented at painting, turning Smeargle’s established artistic theme into a named personality within Pokopia’s story.
Smeargle is a Normal-type Pokémon whose tail secretes a paint-like substance. In the main series, its signature move Sketch allows it to copy another Pokémon’s move. Pokopia draws on the painting side of Smeargle’s identity rather than treating it only as a battle participant.
The name can be confused with the species name because Smeargle itself is already associated with art. However, Smearguru is the specific character’s name in Pokopia. It belongs alongside other named residents such as Peakychu, Mosslax, and DJ Rotom, each of whom gives a familiar Pokémon species a new story role.
