What is the name of the ski jump used for the annual New Year’s Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen?

The story behind the answer

The ski jump used for the New Year’s Four Hills Tournament competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the Olympiaschanze.

The Olympiaschanze is located in the Bavarian resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, one of the four venues in Germany and Austria that host the Four Hills Tournament. Its traditional competition takes place on 1 January, making it one of the best-known annual dates in ski jumping.

The current hill was built for the 2007–08 season and replaced an older Olympic jumping facility. The venue has hosted major competitions since the 1936 Winter Olympics, which were held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The other Four Hills venues are Oberstdorf’s Schattenbergschanze, Innsbruck’s Bergiselschanze and Bischofshofen’s Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze. Those names are common sources of mix-ups when the New Year’s event is identified only by its tournament.
