The shopping mall in Terminator 2: Judgment Day where John Connor first meets the T-800 is the Galleria.
Early in the film, John visits the Galleria in Los Angeles while riding his motorcycle. Two Terminators arrive there: the T-800, sent to protect him, and the T-1000, sent to kill him. John initially believes both machines are threats and escapes on his motorcycle.
The mall sequence establishes the sequel’s central reversal. Unlike the killer machine in the 1984 film, the T-800 has been reprogrammed by the future human resistance. The scene also introduces the T-1000’s ability to imitate people and objects through its liquid-metal body.
The Galleria is a fictional location in the story. The sequence helped make the mall one of the film’s memorable settings, alongside the police station, the desert, and the steel mill.
