Mack is the semi-truck who transports Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars.
Mack serves as Lightning’s hauler and support vehicle at the beginning of the first Cars film. He carries the race car and his equipment toward California for the Piston Cup finale, but exhaustion causes him to lose contact with Lightning during a stop on the road.
After Lightning is accidentally separated from Mack, he ends up in Radiator Springs. That detour creates the film’s central situation and allows him to meet Mater, Sally Carrera, Doc Hudson, and the rest of the town. Mack later helps bring Lightning to the championship race.
Mack is voiced by John Ratzenberger, who has appeared in every Pixar feature film released through Cars 3 in a voice role. The character is distinct from Mater, the rusty tow truck who becomes Lightning’s friend, and from Guido, the small blue forklift who works at Luigi’s tire shop.
