The Nina Project is the secret operation used to restore Eleven’s powers in Stranger Things season 4.
Dr. Sam Owens takes Eleven to a hidden facility in the Nevada desert, where the project uses isolation, recorded memories, and recreated environments to help her recover abilities lost after the events at Starcourt Mall. Dr. Martin Brenner supervises the process and forces Eleven to revisit traumatic memories from her time at Hawkins National Laboratory.
The project’s name comes from the “Nina” program and is connected to the idea of replaying memories. Much of the storyline takes place in a large underground facility, where Eleven experiences earlier events from the laboratory as part of the treatment. The process eventually helps her regain her powers and understand more about her past.
The Nina Project is not the name of Hawkins Laboratory, the Rainbow Room, or the original government experiments. Those terms refer to other places or elements of Eleven’s history. The operation also forms a separate narrative from the Hawkins plot involving Vecna and the Russian storyline involving Hopper.
