Answer
Perelandra
Answer
Perelandra
Perelandra is the second novel in C.S. Lewis’s Space Trilogy.
Published in 1943, Perelandra follows philologist Elwin Ransom after he is transported to the planet Venus, called Perelandra in the novel. There he encounters a newly created world, its Green Lady, and a powerful adversary whose actions threaten the planet’s moral future.
The first volume, Out of the Silent Planet, introduced Ransom and was published in 1938. The concluding novel, That Hideous Strength, appeared in 1945 and shifts much of its attention to Earth, where a sinister organization pursues a vision of technological and social control.
The trilogy is sometimes called the Ransom Trilogy because Ransom is its central protagonist, although he is not equally prominent in every volume. Lewis combines planetary adventure with Christian theological themes, medieval ideas of the cosmos, and anxieties about modern science and power.
