What is the name of the school attended by Hermione Granger in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series?

The story behind the answer

Hermione Granger attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

Hogwarts is the main school for magic in Britain and Ireland in the fictional world of the books. Hermione begins attending at age eleven, after learning that she is a witch, and is sorted into Gryffindor alongside Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.

The school is located in a remote Scottish setting and is protected from ordinary Muggles. Students study subjects including Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and History of Magic. The institution is divided into four houses founded by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin.

Hogwarts is sometimes confused with the other wizarding schools in the series, such as Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. Those schools appear in the wider magical world but are not Hermione’s school.
