Warner Bros. released eight main Harry Potter films.
The film series began with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001 and concluded with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011. The eight films adapt Rowling’s seven novels, because the final book was divided into two movies. Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter, Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson played Hermione Granger throughout the principal series.
The films were produced by Warner Bros. and became one of the highest-grossing film series in cinema history. Several directors worked on the project, including Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates. The changing directors gave the movies different visual and tonal styles while retaining the same central cast.
The number eight applies to the original Harry Potter series. It does not include the Fantastic Beasts films, which are set in the same fictional universe but focus on different characters and an earlier period.
