Kyle Reese is the resistance fighter sent back to protect Sarah Connor in The Terminator.
John Connor sends Reese from the post-apocalyptic future to 1984, where a Terminator has been dispatched to kill Sarah before John’s birth. Reese explains the future war and the machine threat, but Sarah initially struggles to accept his account.
Michael Biehn portrays Reese as a traumatized but determined soldier. His mission is not simply a military assignment: the film reveals that Reese becomes John Connor’s biological father after falling in love with Sarah. This time-loop structure makes Reese essential to the origin of the resistance leader he was sent to protect.
Kyle Reese is often confused with John Connor, the future commander, or with Marcus Wright, a character introduced in Terminator Salvation. Reese also returns as a younger version in later franchise stories, but Michael Biehn’s version is the central resistance fighter in the 1984 original.
