Valinor is the realm where the Valar live in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion.
Valinor lies in Aman, the western continent of Tolkien’s world. It is home to the Valar, powerful beings who help shape and govern Arda, as well as to many Elves. Valinor contains places such as Valimar, the city of the Valar, and the Two Trees, Telperion and Laurelin, whose light predates the Sun and Moon.
Valinor is often casually called a land of immortality, but the name primarily identifies a place, not a reward that grants immortality to anyone who reaches it. Beleriand was a region of Middle-earth during the First Age, Mordor was Sauron’s stronghold in the Third Age, and Eriador was the western region containing the Shire and Rivendell. The destruction of Númenor changed the physical relationship between Aman and the mortal world.
