The reality show where contestants survive alone in the wilderness with minimal supplies is Alone.
Alone premiered on the History channel on June 18, 2015. Its format places contestants in remote wilderness locations far enough apart that they cannot meet one another. Each person documents the experience independently using cameras, creating a show built around survival skills, isolation, and psychological endurance rather than team competition.
Contestants select 10 survival items from a larger approved list and must find food, construct shelter, and cope with changing weather. They can leave by using a satellite phone to “tap out,” while medical teams conduct periodic health checks. The last remaining contestant generally wins a $500,000 prize, although some seasons have used different rules or larger prizes.
A common mix-up is confusing Alone with Survivor, where contestants live in tribes and vote one another out. Man vs. Wild follows a host demonstrating survival techniques, while Naked and Afraid usually places two people together without clothing and with almost no equipment. Alone’s defining feature is that participants face the wilderness and the competition separately.
