What is the name of the protagonist in the Assassin's Creed film?

Callum Lynch is the protagonist of the 2016 Assassin's Creed film.

The film follows Callum Lynch, a modern man who is recruited by Abstergo Industries and connected to the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha. Through an Animus-related device, Callum experiences Aguilar's life as an Assassin in fifteenth-century Spain.

Michael Fassbender plays both Callum and Aguilar. The film's story includes the historical Spanish Inquisition and the continuing conflict between the Assassins and Templars, while introducing original characters and events rather than directly adapting one game's campaign.

Desmond Miles is the best-known modern protagonist from the main video-game continuity, but he does not lead the film. Aguilar is the historical Assassin whose memories Callum relives, not the film's modern central character.
