Harry boards the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9¾ in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
The hidden platform is located at King’s Cross railway station in London. Harry reaches it by running through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10, a magical entrance that becomes one of the earliest signs that the wizarding world exists alongside ordinary Britain.
The Hogwarts Express leaves from Platform 9¾ on 1 September each year. Harry first uses it in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, traveling to Hogwarts with Ron Weasley and later meeting Hermione Granger on the train.
The platform is fictional, but King’s Cross has embraced its connection with the books and films. A luggage trolley installed near the station’s platforms became a popular visitor attraction. The number is written with the fraction symbol “¾,” not as an ordinary decimal, because it represents a magical platform between the real platforms.
