The Mintakans live on Mintaka III in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Who Watches the Watchers." The planet is home to a proto-Vulcan society whose culture is roughly at a Bronze Age level of development.
The Enterprise visits because a hidden Federation observation post on Mintaka III has suffered a malfunction. Its holographic camouflage fails, exposing the outpost to the Mintakans. One of them, Liko, is injured while investigating and is taken aboard the Enterprise for treatment.
Liko remembers seeing Captain Picard and concludes that Picard is a powerful supernatural being. The crew must then undo this accidental contamination of the Mintakans' beliefs without further violating the Prime Directive.
Mintaka III is easy to confuse with other Star Trek locations. Omicron Theta is the colony where Data was discovered, Bajor is central to Deep Space Nine, and Vulcan is the homeworld of the Vulcan species. Mintaka III is specifically associated with the Mintakan observation mission.
