Edward Kenway commands the Jackdaw in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
The Jackdaw is a brig that becomes Edward's main vessel after he acquires it during the Caribbean campaign. Players use the ship to travel between islands, attack forts and other vessels, hunt sea animals, and engage in naval battles. Ship upgrades improve the Jackdaw's weapons, armor, storage, and overall combat performance.
Naval exploration is one of Black Flag's defining features, and the Jackdaw provides the link between Edward's pirate ambitions and the game's wider Assassin-Templar conflict. Its name is a reference to the jackdaw, a small member of the crow family.
Other Assassin's Creed games feature famous ships, which can cause confusion. The Aquila is associated with Connor in Assassin's Creed III, while the Morrigan is Haytham Kenway's ship in Assassin's Creed Rogue. Neither is Edward's vessel in Black Flag.
