Ryder is the PAW Patrol leader who coordinates the pups’ missions.
Ryder is a ten-year-old boy who organizes the team’s rescue operations and communicates with the pups from the Lookout. He assigns tasks according to each dog’s abilities, equipment and training.
The character serves as the human organizer of the team rather than as one of the canine rescuers. His role connects the pups’ individual specialties into a coordinated response, whether a mission involves firefighting, police work, construction, aviation or marine rescue.
Ryder is also distinct from the adult residents who request help, including Mayor Goodway of Adventure Bay. The team’s repeated call to action and Ryder’s mission briefings are among the show’s most recognizable storytelling conventions.
