The mysterious figure who hires Din Djarin to capture Grogu is known as The Client. He is an unnamed Imperial agent who hires bounty hunters to retrieve the infant Child for his superior, Moff Gideon.
The Client gives Din the job through the Bounty Hunters’ Guild and offers a valuable payment, including beskar steel. His instructions are deliberately vague: the target is described as a 50-year-old being who appears infantile. The Client also works with Dr. Pershing, whose interest suggests that Grogu is wanted for scientific or biological purposes.
Din initially delivers Grogu, but soon discovers that the Imperial remnant intends to harm him. He returns to the facility, rescues the Child, and breaks with the Client. This decision transforms a routine bounty into the central relationship driving the series.
The Client is often confused with Moff Gideon, who is ultimately his superior, or with Dr. Pershing, the scientist involved in the project. The character is portrayed by filmmaker Werner Herzog and is killed when Gideon orders Death Troopers to fire on him.
