What is the name of the mortal who lives in the Medium Place?

The mortal who lives in the Medium Place is Mindy St. Claire. She is the only human assigned to this unusual afterlife destination, which sits between the Good Place and the Bad Place.

Mindy was a cocaine-addicted lawyer whose life included many selfish choices, so neither afterlife faction believed she qualified for its realm. Shortly before her death, however, she conceived the idea for a music foundation that would later become enormously beneficial to others. Because the foundation’s positive effects occurred after her death, the Good and Bad Places disputed who should receive credit.

Their compromise created the Medium Place: a modest home stocked with basic comforts, including beer, cocaine, and a jukebox. Mindy remains there with her resurrected pet, Princess. The setting is deliberately neither heavenly nor hellish, reflecting the unusual moral accounting behind her case.

Mindy is sometimes confused with Eleanor, Chidi, or Tahani, but those characters live in the experimental neighborhood and are not the Medium Place’s resident.
