Answer
The Bad Place
Answer
The Bad Place
In The Good Place, the hell-like afterlife opposite the Good Place is called the Bad Place.
The series initially presents the Good Place and Bad Place as opposing destinations assigned after death. A person’s moral conduct generates a numerical score, and only those with sufficiently high scores are supposed to enter the Good Place. Everyone else is sent to the Bad Place for eternal torture.
The first season complicates that simple system. Eleanor believes she has mistakenly reached paradise, while Michael appears to be the neighborhood’s kindly architect. The finale reveals that the neighborhood is actually a Bad Place experiment designed to make Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason torture one another psychologically. The apparent contrast between the two realms is therefore part of Michael’s deception.
The Bad Place later becomes more than a threatening off-screen destination. Its demons, administrators, accounting systems, and bureaucratic rules become recurring parts of the story. The show eventually questions the fairness of the entire points-based afterlife system and replaces it with a process that allows dead humans to confront their weaknesses and improve.
