What is the name of the massive Inca fortress overlooking Cusco?

The story behind the answer

The massive Inca fortress overlooking Cusco is Sacsayhuamán. The fortified complex occupies a steep hill north of the city and commands broad views across the Cusco valley, making it both a strategic defensive site and an important ceremonial center.

Its enormous terrace walls are built from finely cut stones fitted together without mortar. Some blocks weigh many tonnes, and their irregular interlocking shapes helped the walls withstand the frequent earthquakes of the Andes. The complex also included plazas, storehouses, towers, and areas used for public or religious activities.

Inca tradition associated the major construction with Pachacuti and his successors, including Túpac Inca Yupanqui and Huayna Capac. The site is often called a fortress, but its role was broader than warfare alone. Moray was an agricultural terracing site, Pisac was a settlement and ceremonial complex, and Ollantaytambo was another major Inca town and fortress farther from Cusco.
