The liquid-metal Terminator in Terminator 2: Judgment Day is the T-1000. It is a prototype machine made from a fictional mimetic polyalloy that allows it to change shape and imitate people.
Robert Patrick played the T-1000, whose appearance and movement contrast with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s larger, mechanical T-800. The character’s ability to form blades and pass through openings made it one of the film’s defining threats.
The T-1000 is not the same model as the T-X from Terminator 3 or the T-800 from the first two films. Its effects combined computer-generated imagery with practical techniques, helping make Terminator 2 a landmark in early digital visual effects.
