What is the name of the landing site of the Curiosity rover?

The story behind the answer

The landing site of NASA's Curiosity rover is named Bradbury Landing. Curiosity touched down there on August 6, 2012, inside Gale Crater on Mars.

NASA named the site on August 22, 2012, in honor of science-fiction author Ray Bradbury, who had died earlier that year. Bradbury was best known for The Martian Chronicles, a connection that made the tribute especially fitting for a mission exploring Mars.

Bradbury Landing is the rover's named touchdown location, while Gale Crater is the larger geological setting and Aeolis Palus is the plain where the rover landed. Curiosity soon drove away from the exact landing spot and began investigating the crater floor before ascending Mount Sharp, officially called Aeolis Mons. Its mission focuses on Mars's ancient climate, geology, and whether Gale Crater once offered conditions favorable for microbial life.
