The Lamborghini concept car with a single seat is the Egoista. Lamborghini unveiled it in 2013 as part of the celebrations for the company’s 50th anniversary.
Designed by Walter de Silva, the Egoista was inspired heavily by aviation. Its cockpit resembles a modern fighter jet, with a removable canopy-style door, orange-tinted anti-glare glazing and a heads-up display. The steering wheel must be removed for entry and exit, much like in a Formula One car. The cockpit itself was conceived as a removable “survival cell,” drawing on helicopter and aircraft design ideas.
Despite its futuristic appearance, the Egoista was fully functional. It used a 5.2-liter V10 derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo, producing 600 horsepower, and combined a mid-engine layout with all-wheel drive. Active aerodynamic panels adjusted to help balance downforce and stability.
The name Egoista comes from the Italian word for “selfish.” De Silva described the design as hedonism taken to an extreme, which explains both the single-occupant layout and the car’s unapologetically personal character. Lamborghini initially said it had no intention of selling the one-off concept, presenting it instead as a gift from the company to itself.
