What is the name of the king's chief advisor?

The story behind the answer

What is the name of the king’s chief advisor? The king’s chief advisor is the Grand Duke. In Disney’s 1950 Cinderella, he serves as the monarch’s fussy majordomo, confidant, and practical agent.

The Grand Duke becomes central when the king learns that the prince has fallen in love. The king orders him to arrange a search for the mysterious young woman from the ball, using the glass slipper she left behind as the crucial clue. His mission is to find a match for the slipper throughout the kingdom.

Luis van Rooten voiced both the King and the Grand Duke, giving the two characters distinct performances. The Grand Duke is more controlled and bureaucratic than the explosive king, which creates much of the pair’s comic contrast. He is not the steward, chancellor, or marquis; those titles belong to other roles or versions of royal stories.

The Grand Duke also helps drive the finale. After Cinderella is freed from the attic, he tests the slipper on her foot and confirms that she is the woman the prince seeks. His official task turns the fairy-tale romance into a formal royal investigation.
