What is the name of the junior development championship within the WRC?

The junior development championship within the WRC is called Junior WRC. Officially known as the FIA Junior WRC Championship, it gives young rally drivers an international platform while they compete on selected rounds of the World Rally Championship calendar.

Junior WRC is designed as a progression route toward higher-level rallying. Drivers compete in identical cars supplied and supported by M-Sport, helping place greater emphasis on driving skill and preparation rather than unequal factory resources. Since 2022, the championship has used Ford Fiesta Rally3 cars, which have four-wheel drive and are built to Rally3 regulations.

The series has changed names and formats over time. Its roots go back to the FIA Super 1600 Drivers' Championship in 2001; it became Junior World Rally Championship in 2002, was replaced by WRC Academy in 2011, and was renamed FIA Junior WRC in 2013. WRC2 and WRC3 are separate support categories, not alternative names for Junior WRC.
