What is the name of the Japanese programme that originated the format later adapted as Britain's Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Money Tigers is the Japanese programme that originated the format later adapted as Britain's Dragon's Den.

Money Tigers, known in Japan as Money no Tora, featured entrepreneurs presenting business proposals to wealthy investors. The investors questioned the presenters and could offer funding, creating the central pitch-and-negotiation structure that became the foundation of Dragon's Den.

The British programme launched in 2005, while the Japanese original had already established the format. International adaptations followed in numerous countries. The American version Shark Tank is therefore a related adaptation rather than the source of the British programme.

The wording “Money Tigers” refers to the English rendering of the Japanese title. It is not the name of a Dragon's Den series or an investor, which helps distinguish it from the many brand names associated with the franchise.
