Britain's Dragon's Den was adapted from the Japanese business show Money Tigers.
Money Tigers, known in Japan as Money no Tora, established the basic format in which entrepreneurs present business proposals to wealthy investors. The investors question the founders, assess the opportunity and may offer funding in exchange for a stake in the company.
The format was adapted internationally. In the United Kingdom, the investors became “Dragons”, while the American adaptation became Shark Tank. These programmes share the central pitching structure but have different panels, broadcasters, branding and production histories.
The title Money Tigers is therefore the specific source-format answer for the British series. Shark Tank is a related American adaptation, not the Japanese programme from which Dragon's Den directly derives.
