What is the name of the Japanese business-pitching show that inspired Britain's Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Money Tigers is the Japanese business-pitching show that inspired Britain's Dragon's Den.

The Japanese format was created by Nippon Television and became the source for several international adaptations. In the format, entrepreneurs present proposals to experienced investors and seek funding in exchange for part ownership of their businesses.

The British adaptation changed the investor nickname to “Dragons” and developed its own presentation style, production identity and panel history. The central idea remained the same: founders must defend their valuation, explain their business model and persuade investors that the opportunity merits capital.

Money Tigers is not the same programme as Shark Tank, although both belong to the wider family of entrepreneur-investment formats. Shark Tank is the title used by the US adaptation of a different international branding path, while Dragon's Den is the name used in Britain and several other territories.
