The investor panel on the British television series Dragon's Den is called the Dragons.
The title is part of the British adaptation’s branding. Entrepreneurs enter the den and present their proposals to a group of successful businesspeople, who assess the idea, the finances, the market and the equity being offered. Each panel member is therefore referred to as a dragon.
The terminology varies between national versions of the format. The Japanese original used “tigers,” and the American adaptation uses “sharks.” Those names describe related international versions, not the British panel.
The number and membership of the dragons have changed across series. Some episodes also feature guest investors, so “the Dragons” is the stable collective name rather than a fixed list of people. The word is capitalised in the programme’s branding but refers to the investor role.
