What is the name of the house where the Lintons live in 'Wuthering Heights'?

The story behind the answer

The Lintons live at Thrushcross Grange in Emily Brontë’s *Wuthering Heights*.

Thrushcross Grange is the refined, comfortable home of Edgar and Isabella Linton and their parents. It stands in contrast to Wuthering Heights, the harsher farmhouse occupied by the Earnshaws and later dominated by Heathcliff. The two houses represent contrasting social environments as well as different ideas of comfort, manners, and respectability.

Catherine Earnshaw first becomes closely connected with the Lintons after she and Heathcliff spy on the family. When Catherine is injured by the Lintons’ dog, she stays at the Grange and returns changed by her exposure to their polished way of life. Her attraction to Edgar Linton helps create the central conflict between social ambition, emotional attachment, and Heathcliff’s resentment.

Penistone Crags are moorland rocks associated with Catherine and Heathcliff, while Gimmerton is the nearby village. Wuthering Heights is the Earnshaw family home, not the Lintons’ residence. Later, Lockwood rents Thrushcross Grange from Heathcliff.
