What is the name of the horse-racing course in Paris that hosts the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe?

The story behind the answer

Longchamp Racecourse is the Paris course that hosts the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

The racecourse is located in the Bois de Boulogne, on the western side of Paris. It opened in 1857 and became France’s leading venue for major flat racing, with a complex layout containing several courses and distances.

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, first run in 1920, is traditionally staged at Longchamp in early October. The race is one of Europe’s premier contests for thoroughbreds and is usually run over 2,400 metres, or about 1½ miles.

Longchamp underwent a major redevelopment and reopened in 2018 as ParisLongchamp. Many references still use “Longchamp Racecourse,” while the modern venue’s official branding emphasizes ParisLongchamp. Chantilly, another important French racecourse, hosts the Prix du Jockey Club and Prix de Diane, so it is a common mix-up.
