The hobbit home where Bilbo and Frodo Baggins live is called Bag End. It is a comfortable smial in Hobbiton, a village in the Shire.
Bag End is built into a hill and has the round door and windows associated with hobbit architecture. Bilbo lives there at the beginning of The Hobbit, and Frodo inherits it after Bilbo leaves the Shire. The house becomes the starting point for both Bilbo’s journey and Frodo’s later quest.
Bag End is not the same place as Bagshot Row, which is a nearby street in Hobbiton. Nor is it Crickhollow, the house Frodo uses as part of his attempt to make it appear that he has moved away before leaving the Shire. These names can be confused because all belong to the early Shire chapters.
The name also carries a small joke: Bag End was the name of Tolkien’s aunt’s farm in Worcestershire. In the fictional Shire, however, it is a prominent Baggins residence and one of the best-known homes in fantasy literature.
